Where to stay in Ghaziabad: Kaushambi, Indirapuram or Raj Nagar

Kaushambi puts you 500 metres from Anand Vihar's bus and train terminals for ₹1,800 to ₹3,500 a night — around half a central Delhi rate — and that single fact is the whole argument for Ghaziabad.
Who Ghaziabad works for
Ghaziabad sits immediately east of Delhi in Uttar Pradesh, sprawling from Kaushambi and Vaishali on the Blue Line out through Indirapuram, Vasundhara, Sahibabad and Mohan Nagar to Raj Nagar and the old city. Its hotel trade serves three groups: people catching or arriving on trains and buses at Anand Vihar just across the boundary, business visitors to the Sahibabad and Meerut Road industrial estates, and families attending weddings in the banquet belt along the NH-9 and Hapur Road. Add a fourth now: passengers using the Namo Bharat regional trains towards Meerut.
It is a bad idea for a sightseeing holiday and a good idea for a logistics problem. The old city has the Dudheshwar Nath Mandir, a genuinely ancient Shiva temple that fills during Sawan in July and August, and essentially nothing else a visitor crosses a country for. If your plan involves the Red Fort, Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar, the extra 40 to 60 minutes each way will cost you more in patience than the room saves in rupees. Book it for the terminal, the factory or the wedding.
What a night costs here
Kaushambi, the hotel cluster right on the Delhi boundary, is the price benchmark: ₹1,800 to ₹3,500 for a decent air-conditioned double with a lift, and ₹4,000 to ₹6,500 at the two or three larger business properties with restaurants and banquet halls. Indirapuram and Vasundhara guesthouses and serviced flats run ₹1,500 to ₹3,000, with weekly rates worth asking about. Out in Raj Nagar Extension and the old city, rooms drop to ₹900 to ₹1,800 and quality becomes a lottery — inspect before paying, and check that hot water actually runs.
Against ₹6,000 to ₹9,000 for a mid-range central Delhi room, Kaushambi at ₹2,600 is roughly half. The catch, as everywhere on this side of the river, is the airport: 35 to 40 kilometres, 60 to 90 minutes, ₹900 to ₹1,400 by cab, with no sensible metro route under 80 minutes. Wedding season from November to February and the Delhi Trade Fair fortnight in mid-November push Kaushambi rates up 30 to 50%, because the fairground at Pragati Maidan is a straight metro run away and everyone else has sold out.
Kaushambi and Vaishali: book here, if you book Ghaziabad at all
Kaushambi is a small commercial pocket that sits, awkwardly and usefully, about 500 metres from Anand Vihar ISBT and the Anand Vihar Terminal railway station, with its own Blue Line metro station a five-minute walk away. That combination — long-distance buses, a major railway terminal and a Delhi metro line all inside a ten-minute walk — does not exist anywhere else in the region at this price. For a 5.30am train to Lucknow or an overnight bus to Nainital, this is the correct place to sleep, full stop.
Vaishali, one stop further out on the same branch, is a little quieter and slightly cheaper, with the Blue Line at the door and a shopping-mall cluster for dinner. Both suffer the same drawback: the streets are commercial, hot and unlovely, the pavements are used for parking, and there is no green space or view. You are buying position, not pleasantness. Ask for a room away from the main road and above the third floor, because the terminal traffic never stops and horns carry from the flyover well past midnight.
Indirapuram, Vasundhara and the residential middle
Indirapuram is Ghaziabad's dense high-rise suburb, laid out between the NH-9 and Vasundhara, with malls, a large supply of two- and three-bedroom serviced apartments, gyms, chemists, and a genuinely good spread of restaurants and bakeries in Ahinsa Khand and Vaibhav Khand. For a stay of a week or more with a family, a ₹2,500 to ₹4,000 flat here beats a hotel room in every practical respect: kitchen, washing machine, space, and a market you can walk to for vegetables at Indian prices rather than mall prices.
The problem is the metro. Indirapuram has no station of its own; you are ten to twenty minutes by auto or cab from Vaishali or Mohan Nagar, at ₹60 to ₹150. During the 8am to 10.30am and 6pm to 9pm crawl on the NH-9 approach that ten minutes becomes twenty-five. Book Indirapuram if you have a car or an app-cab budget and are staying long enough for the domestic advantages to matter. Book Kaushambi if you are here for four nights and every trip starts with a metro ride.
Namo Bharat: the reason to reconsider Ghaziabad
The regional rapid rail from Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan out through Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar and Duhai to Meerut has changed what this city is for. Trains run at high frequency, are air conditioned, quiet and almost empty compared with the metro, and they turn Meerut into a comfortable day trip and Sahibabad into a genuinely connected address. If your work is anywhere along the Meerut Road corridor, a Ghaziabad or Sahibabad room plus a Namo Bharat ticket beats a Delhi hotel and an hour-and-a-half drive by a wide margin.
For a traveller, the practical use is this: it makes the eastern satellite cities reachable without the NH-9 traffic, and it links into Blue Line and Red Line stations at either end. Fares are higher than the metro but modest, and premium coaches exist for a small supplement. If you are choosing between a Vaishali hotel and one nearer Sahibabad station, and your days point east rather than into Delhi, take the Sahibabad end — you gain far more than the ₹300 a night you might pay extra.
Walking distance and where to eat
From Kaushambi you can walk to the bus terminal, the railway terminal, the metro, a couple of mid-sized malls and a strip of dhabas and fast-food counters where ₹150 to ₹250 covers a full meal. From Indirapuram you can walk to Shipra Mall, a big supermarket and dozens of restaurants. From Sahibabad you can walk to Pacific Mall. That is the honest inventory. There is no monument, no lake, no promenade and no old-quarter bazaar within reach of any of these addresses.
The food is straightforward North Indian and priced well below Delhi's: chole bhature and bedmi puri for breakfast at ₹60 to ₹90, thalis at ₹150 to ₹220, tandoori and Mughlai in the evenings for ₹300 to ₹500 a head, and good street chaat around Nehru Nagar and the old Ghaziabad markets. Alcohol is easy and cheaper than in Delhi, since Uttar Pradesh's excise rates are lower. For an actual restaurant evening, the practical move is 25 minutes on the Blue Line to Noida Sector 18 or 40 minutes to Connaught Place.
The verdict, and the alternatives
Book Kaushambi, within 500 metres of the metro, if your trip has a train or a bus at Anand Vihar in it, if the Trade Fair or a Pragati Maidan event has emptied central Delhi, or if you want a competent ₹2,600 room and will spend your days on the Blue Line anyway. That is a strong, specific case and Kaushambi answers it better than anywhere else. Book Indirapuram for a family stay of a week or more with a car. Book Sahibabad if your days run east on the Namo Bharat.
Do not book Raj Nagar or the old city unless someone you know lives there — the rooms are cheap, the connections are poor, and the saving over Kaushambi is a few hundred rupees for an extra half hour each way. And if the trip is sightseeing, cross the river: Mayur Vihar is similar money with a lake and two metro lines, and Karol Bagh costs ₹1,500 more while sitting inside the city you came to see. Ghaziabad is a transport decision dressed as an accommodation one.

You can, from Kaushambi or Vaishali. Blue Line to Rajiv Chowk takes 35 to 40 minutes for ₹50 to ₹60, and Kashmere Gate for Old Delhi needs one change. Expect 80 to 100 minutes of daily commuting. It works for a five-night trip on a tight budget, poorly for a two-night one.
Yes if you are heading towards Meerut or along the Ghaziabad corridor. It is air conditioned, fast and far less crowded than the metro, with premium coaches for a small supplement. For journeys within Delhi it is no use — the Blue Line from Vaishali or Kaushambi is cheaper and more direct.
Expect ₹900 to ₹1,400 for the 35 to 40 kilometres from Kaushambi to Terminal 3, taking 60 minutes before 6am and up to 90 in peak. There is no efficient metro route — it would take about 80 minutes with two changes — so budget the cab into your room-rate comparison.
